President announces significant pension increase, part of reforms aimed to ensure dignified life for workers and retirees

    26 May 2026.  As part of ongoing efforts to structure a comprehensive and realistic wage and pension system, President al-Sharaa approved a 30% increase in pensions, effective June 1. He noted that all workers had received wage increases since January 2025.Read more at: ENAB BALADI

    Saudi Arabia pledges $1.5 billion under “Syria Without Camps” initiative

      25 May 2026.  Saudi Arabia’s new pledge to Syria of $1.5 billion, a spike from previous annual funding, is earmarked for the government’s plan to move displaced families from camps to their home areas by the end of 2027.       Over 1800 new companies registered in Syria this year indicating improved investor climate

        24 May 2026.  A senior Ministry of Economy and Industry official stated that 1,846 companies have been registered thus far in 2026, reflecting streamlined procedures and modernized services in a more stable, investor-friendly environment.  A system for incorporating domestic and foreign businesses online is also being launched.Read more at: SANA

        Syria’s participation in June G7 talks signals another step in international financial integration

          18 May 2026.  Syria has been invited to join a closed G7 financial session next month, discussing the country’s sustainable recovery and reintegration into the global system, along with its position in the shifting Middle East landscape.           Emergency Ministry restores infrastructure in war-damaged areas, reviving farmland and helping civilians return home

            16 May 2026.  Syria’s Emergency Ministry has filled and levelled more than 900 kilometres of war era trenches and berms in Idlib province.             Syrian and UAE officials discuss massive development projects amid growing Gulf interest in Syria

              8 May 2026.  Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa met an Emirati delegation to discuss development plans for projects in Damascus and Latakia, together valued at over $50 billion, including housing, hotels, and roads.                   EU member states view Syria as viable partner after little over a year of recovery

                    21 April 2026.  Relations have been warming with the EU under Syria’s new leaders, the result of frequent diplomatic missions and the dramatic policy shifts and actions they have undertaken. Syria is being viewed as a reliable partner in many spheres of shared interest and as an alternate trade corridor in the Middle East.                     Syria seeks renewal of international programs cancelled under old regime

                            Syria signs agreement for landmark investment in tourism and development

                              8 April 2026.  Syria’s Ministry of Tourism and Izdihar Holdings agreed to develop The Beaumont Damascus, a major hotel and apartment project intended to boost tourism and investment in Syria.
