French envoy engages in on the ground diplomacy in Suweida at pivotal moment

    Airline pilot in exile invited to return home and join Syrian Airlines

      2 April 2026.  Capt. Maya Ghazal, who fled Syria to the UK as a teenager during the revolution, overcame serious challenges to fulfil her dream of becoming an airline pilot 6 years ago. Capt. Ghazal, also a UN Goodwill Ambassador, was just invited by Syria’s Civil Aviation Authority to join Syrian Airlines.Read more at:  THE NATIONAL

        UN responds to Syria’s changing needs as nation’s recovery enters development phase

              First post-liberation Syrian medical conference aims to become “launchpad for modern health system”

                2 April 2026.  Covering a broad range of medical fields and specialties, the conference sought to advance research, strengthen professional cooperation, and address ethical responsibilities such as documenting violations against detainees.                     Encouraged by Education Ministry’s “reading culture,” over a million students join Arab Reading Challenge

                      31 March 2026.  The program, initiated by the UAE, encourages students to read 50 books a year outside of school, promoting self-learning skills, critical thinking and cultural awareness.                       Legal conference explores reforms to paternal descent laws harmful to women and children

                        31 March 2026.  A Damascus University conference focused on loopholes in Syria’s existing Nationality Law, based on a 1969 decree, which allows discrimination against women married to non-Syrians and their children.                           Syrian returns home after nearly two decades to “Sing for Those Who are gone”

                            Current energy crisis could be an “exceptional historic moment” for Syria, says US envoy

                                  26 March 2026.  Officials and community leaders in Sweida held a national event on the anniversary of the passing of Sultan Pasha al-Atrash, leader of the Great Syrian Revolt (against French colonialism), to honor his enduring legacy.                                     25 March 2026.  An advanced training workshop for fourth-year journalism students was held at Damascus University in partnership with the EU Mission to Syria.
