President announces significant pension increase, part of reforms aimed to ensure dignified life for workers and retirees

    26 May 2026.  As part of ongoing efforts to structure a comprehensive and realistic wage and pension system, President al-Sharaa approved a 30% increase in pensions, effective June 1. He noted that all workers had received wage increases since January 2025.Read more at: ENAB BALADI

        Judges try Bashar al-Assad, his brother Maher al-Assad, and others in absentia as fugitives

          10 May 2026.  A criminal court in Damascus stripped Bashar and Maher al-Assad of their civil rights, placing their sizeable assets under state administration.           Nothing is impossible for Syrian youth, says student winner of European accolades

            5 May 2026.  Jana Kharat arrived in Austria as a refugee at age seven, facing serious language and cultural challenges. She rose to be part of her school’s Junior Ambassadors team, the only Syrian, and participated in visits to several European institutions.               Justice Minister Mazhar al-Wais announces start of transitional justice trials in Daraa

                25 April 2026.  Justice Minister al-Wais said Syria is ready to launch the first transitional justice trials, committed to revealing truth about the old regime’s abuses and establishing accountability.                       Airline pilot in exile invited to return home and join Syrian Airlines

                        2 April 2026.  Capt. Maya Ghazal, who fled Syria to the UK as a teenager during the revolution, overcame serious challenges to fulfil her dream of becoming an airline pilot 6 years ago. Capt.                             Encouraged by Education Ministry’s “reading culture,” over a million students join Arab Reading Challenge

                              31 March 2026.  The program, initiated by the UAE, encourages students to read 50 books a year outside of school, promoting self-learning skills, critical thinking and cultural awareness.                               Syria launches national campaign to restore vision and improve quality of life

                                    Syria assumes leadership position in global war on terror

                                      10 February 2026.  After rejoining the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS last year, Syria is now taking a leadership role.                                       New leadership program will train officials to include disabled people in public and private arenas

                                        7 February 2026.  The Social Affairs and Labor Ministry and the Saïd Foundation for Development have launched a training program aimed at improving the capacity of public and private institutions to serve people with disabilities.                                         Senior diplomatic source reveals government’s stance as ceasefire with SDF nears end.

                                          23 January 2026.  Damascus seeks to establish the rule of law across all Syrian territory, including the newly acquired Eastern region, says a source within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
