19 July 2026. President al-Sharaa overhauled Syria’s security and intelligence leadership in an effort to strengthen national security, promote stability and remove obstacles to reconstruction. The move to consolidate agencies comes in the wake of recent violent attacks and cross-border arms smuggling attempts.
