    21 May 2026.  The need for alternative Middle East transport channels is reviving Syria’s ancient role as part of the Silk Road that linked Central Asia with the Mediterranean.     Japan supports recovery of 20 Syrian municipalities

      12 May 2026.  UN-Habitat and Japan announced a project to improve service delivery and urban governance affecting some 870,000 people in 20 municipalities across 7 provinces.       Syria chosen to lead 22 Arab nation network of nuclear and radiological regulators

        11 April 2026.  Syria was elected president of the regional agency for two years, based on its record of strengthening safety in these areas. The head of the Syrian Atomic Energy agency said it aims to enhance coordination among member states and support joint initiatives to advance regional regulatory frameworks.Read more at:  SANA

        Syria and Türkiye announce new phase of cooperation

          9 April 2026.  Calling Turkey a reliable ally and partner in Syria’s reconstruction, Minister al-Shaibani cited shared security and strategic goals, one of which is the Four Seas Project—a planned energy corridor formed by Syria and Turkey between the Arabian Gulf and the Caspian, Mediterranean, and Black seas.Read more at:  SANA

            2 April 2026.  Dr. Fadia al-Haj Hussien, a researcher on the Faculty of Pharmacy at Hama University, discovered how to transform industrial waste and local materials into catalysts for energy production.             Syria boosts flow of oil through overland crossings to its Mediterranean ports

                    Syria launches sweeping restoration of oil and gas sector after regaining key fields

                      23 February 2026.  Syria’s energy sector is undergoing major recovery since the government regained oil and gas fields in the northeast, with technical teams securing and rehabilitating the sites through new international partnerships.                       Syria’s energy sector reaches turning point with new offshore explorations

                        5 February 2026.  The state-owned Syrian Petroleum Company signed a landmark agreement with US and Qatari companies to begin oil and gas explorations aimed at boosting energy investment, supporting development, and expanding partnerships.                           Aga Khan Development Network expands commitment to the Syrian people

                            World Bank grant will help restore Syria’s power infrastructure

                              12 December 2025.  With its first initiative in Syria for nearly forty years, the World Bank has agreed to support government efforts to improve electricity availability and strengthen the national economy. A grant of $146 million was announced in June to rehabilitate transmission lines, with further grants pending.Read more at:  SANA

                              Syria’s energy renaissance continues with launch of major power plant

                                3 December 2025.  In less than a year since liberation, Syria has launched four gas power plants and many renewable energy projects, forming a solid foundation for the country’s development. The plant in Deir Ezzor will stabilize the energy grid and be “a station for revival, development, and the spread of light across Syria,” said the energy minister.Read more at:  SANA
