First Lady honors community leader, symbol of resilience, and rebuilder of Syria

    27 May 2026.  First Lady Latifa al-Droubi met with Samira al-Qaddour, an Idlib school principal known for her civic work and resilience during the war, when she was displaced to camps for anti-regime protests.     Students of physics augment Syria’s global presence through international Olympiad

      Japan supports recovery of 20 Syrian municipalities

        12 May 2026.  UN-Habitat and Japan announced a project to improve service delivery and urban governance affecting some 870,000 people in 20 municipalities across 7 provinces.         Syria celebrates national winners of Arab Reading Challenge

          12 May 2026.  Syria honored its top Arab Reading Challenge participants, chosen from 1.3 million students at 6,000 schools to represent Syria in the final challenge along with students from 60 nations.           Nothing is impossible for Syrian youth, says student winner of European accolades

            5 May 2026.  Jana Kharat arrived in Austria as a refugee at age seven, facing serious language and cultural challenges. She rose to be part of her school’s Junior Ambassadors team, the only Syrian, and participated in visits to several European institutions.             Global engagement grows with over 5,000 foreign journalists entering Syria since liberation

              Cultural ‘marathon’ held in Old City of Damascus on World Heritage Day

                18 April 2026.  Students at Damascus University staged a ‘heritage marathon,’ serving as guides to many ancient sites in the Old City, which has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.                     11 April 2026.  Forty teams of students joined Syria’s 2026 robotics championship, showcasing skills in design, programming, and problem solving.                     Syria signs agreement for landmark investment in tourism and development

                      8 April 2026.  Syria’s Ministry of Tourism and Izdihar Holdings agreed to develop The Beaumont Damascus, a major hotel and apartment project intended to boost tourism and investment in Syria.                       First post-liberation Syrian medical conference aims to become “launchpad for modern health system”

                        2 April 2026.  Covering a broad range of medical fields and specialties, the conference sought to advance research, strengthen professional cooperation, and address ethical responsibilities such as documenting violations against detainees.                         Encouraged by Education Ministry’s “reading culture,” over a million students join Arab Reading Challenge

                          31 March 2026.  The program, initiated by the UAE, encourages students to read 50 books a year outside of school, promoting self-learning skills, critical thinking and cultural awareness.                           Germany and Syria join forces to boost Syria’s emergency disaster response

                            EU’s Mission to Syria cosponsors journalism workshop on combatting media disinformation

                              25 March 2026.  An advanced training workshop for fourth-year journalism students was held at Damascus University in partnership with the EU Mission to Syria.                                 Syrian medical professional recognized internationally for “Compassionate Health Leadership”

                                  14 March 2026.  Rula Aliu, a nursing college instructor at Tishreen University, was nominated for a British Medical Journal award by a panel of experts from Canada, US, UK, the Netherlands and elsewhere, based on her innovations in healthcare education and leadership.Read more at: LEVANT24

                                  Access to education restored to half a million students in newly liberated northeastern Syria

                                    6 March 2026.  With the rehabilitation of hundreds of schools in the Raqqa and Deir Ezzor provinces, recently transferred to state control, children are being reintegrated into Syrian society. The Education Ministry has provided 570,000 textbooks, supplied 10,000 desks, as well as support for teachers.Read more at:  SANA
