President oversees emergency flood response and announces new reconstruction in eastern Syria

    30 May 2026.  President al-Sharaa arrived in Deir Ezzor with a large delegation of ministers to oversee response efforts to the Euphrates flood and announce new reconstruction projects.     Saudi Arabia pledges $1.5 billion under “Syria Without Camps” initiative

      25 May 2026.  Saudi Arabia’s new pledge to Syria of $1.5 billion, a spike from previous annual funding, is earmarked for the government’s plan to move displaced families from camps to their home areas by the end of 2027.       Syria joins military drills in Turkey alongside NATO nations

        23 May 2026.  Syria joined military training exercises in Turkey along with 50 other nations—the first time the Syrian army has participated in exercises outside the country.         23 major UN donor countries visit Syria to gauge humanitarian and development needs

          EU opens door to new partnership with Syria after 14 years

            11 May 2026.  The EU and Syria held their first high-level dialogue after 14 years of Syria’s isolation.               High-profile perpetrator of war crimes captured in major advance toward justice

                26 April 2026.  The capture of Amjad Youssef, responsible for 288 deaths during Syria’s war, marks a major step in the government’s pursuit of transitional justice, said Dr. al-Barazi, explaining that it opens the way to holding the chain of command accountable for atrocities committed by the previous regime.Read more at:  SANA

                President al-Sharaa links security in Europe to stability in Middle East

                  24 April 2026.  Speaking to European and regional leaders at an emergency meeting, al-Sharaa presented Syria as a safe alternative corridor—linking Central Asia and the Gulf with Europe—for the flow of energy and trade.                   Germany sponsors conference on engaging diaspora Syrians in Syria’s recovery

                    23 April 2026.  At a conference organized by New Beginning for Syria, a program of the German government, Syria’s minister for Social Affairs and Labor, Hind Qabwat, called Syrians in the diaspora “genuine wealth.” She urged the deeper collaboration of Syrian expatriates in Germany in rebuilding Syria.Read more at:  LEVANT 24

                      UN report lauds Syria’s progress in fostering transitional justice

                        16 April 2026.  Reporting on its first full year of investigating Syria’s progress with transitional justice, the IIIM, created by the General Assembly in 2016 to help investigate and prosecute Syria’s war crimes, applauded the new government’s cooperation with the UN and its creation of institutions to secure justice.Read more at:  SANA

                        Damascus and Amman moving toward a stable, longterm partnership

                          13 April 2026.  Marking a new phase in political and economic alignment, Syria and Jordan signed nine agreements to integrate essential national sectors.                             Syria chosen to lead 22 Arab nation network of nuclear and radiological regulators

                              11 April 2026.  Syria was elected president of the regional agency for two years, based on its record of strengthening safety in these areas.                               Syria and Türkiye announce new phase of cooperation

                                      First post-liberation Syrian medical conference aims to become “launchpad for modern health system”
