Damascus and Amman moving toward a stable, longterm partnership

    13 April 2026.  Marking a new phase in political and economic alignment, Syria and Jordan signed nine agreements to integrate essential national sectors.     Turning borders into bridges: Syria, Jordan, and Turkey prepare to activate “Middle East Corridor”

      Peace in Syria declared essential to stability of Mediterranean countries and European security

        22 October 2025.  The MED9 Summit signalled a turning point in Syria’s regional reintegration, with leaders of the 9 nations agreeing that peace in Syria is a cornerstone of the region’s security.         Plans for Suwayda’s security announced in trilateral diplomacy

          16 September 2025.  Syria, Jordan, and the United States announced plans to consolidate the July ceasefire in Suwayda and resolve the conflict that claimed over 250 lives. A list of resolutions comprising the joint initiative includes: continuing humanitarian aid and medical support, working to return 160,000 displaced people, holding accountable all who attacked civilians, and launching a reconciliation process. Foreign Minister Al-Shaibani affirmed the state’s responsibility to restore trust among all groups in Suwayda.Read more at: ALJAZEERA

          Tripartite working group formed to resolve Suwayda crisis

            13 August 25.  Syria, Jordan, and the US formed a working group to support Syria’s efforts to consolidate the ceasefire in Suwayda and resolve the ongoing crisis. Damascus pledged continuing support for full investigations, cooperation with the UN, increasing humanitarian aid, restoring services, and fostering community reconciliation and civil peace, steps welcomed by the US. The joint statement affirmed Suwayda’s integral role in Syria and the importance of guaranteeing rights, representation, and inclusion of all Syrian peoples.Read more at:  ENAB BALADI

            Syria rejoins global telecom network signaling new openness

              30 July 2025.  Ending over ten years of isolation, Syria rejoined the GSMA—a global association for mobile communications. The Ministry of Communications said the move, which will strengthen regional telecommunications cooperation, signifies a new openness.  Jordan will supply expertise in the digital arena, pivotal to Syria’s economic development.  Made possible by the lifting of sanctions, this step enables Syria to access global telecom services and conferences.Read more at: ENAB BALADI

              Syria and allies agree on steps to implement the ceasefire

                19 July 2025.  Immediately following the ceasefire announcement, tri-partite talks were held in Amman, Jordon to consolidate the agreement. The foreign ministers of Syria and Jordan, along with the US special envoy, agreed on operational steps to prevent more bloodshed. The US and Jordan pledged solidarity with Syria and their full support for its unity, stability, and sovereignty.                 Syria and Jordan accelerate cooperation post-Assad

                  14 July 2025.  Syria and Jordan have launched a new phase of economic cooperation, forming a Higher Coordination Council to expand trade, transport, and energy ties. The economic ministers pledged to overcome obstacles and affirmed their commitment to boosting economic cooperation. Jordan’s Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi, speaking in Berlin alongside his German counterpart, Johann Wadephul, emphasized the need for global cooperation to support Syria’s reconstruction and safeguard its sovereignty and citizens’ rights. He praised Syria’s efforts toward rebuilding a free, independent nation and welcomed the Syrian-German agreement to form an economic cooperation council, calling it a vital step in improving the lives of Syrians after years of conflict.Read more at: SANA

                    A homecoming of hope: Syrian families return to Busra al-Sham, Daraa, after years in exile

                      13 June 2025.  After 12 years in Jordan’s Zaatari camp, Syrian refugees have returned to their hometown of Busra al-Sham in Daraa. The extent of the devastation they encountered was far greater than what they expected to find, yet some have managed to rebuild parts of their homes.  One man said the joy of being in his home outweighs the hardships, as it stirs memories of the revolution and the victory.  Since the fall of Assad, over a half million Syrians are estimated to have returned as of mid-May.Read more at: SANA
