17 August 2026. Syria is expanding diplomatic efforts to counter attempts by Israel to alter the legal status of the occupied Golan, with President al-Sharaa calling such attempts ‘null and void’. The UN has repeatedly called for Israel’s withdrawal to the June 4, 1967 border, backed by 123 nations as of December 2025, along with the European Union and other international bodies.
