9 August 2026. After 18 months of negotiations, Russia agreed to end its use of Hmeimem air base in Latakia and part of Tartus port as military outposts that it controlled since 2011, under the former regime. Damascus will utilize the bases for civilian purposes, plus cooperative joint training centers with Moscow.
