4 April 2026. On the International Day for Mine Awareness, Syria’s Ministry of Defence announced that its engineering unit had cleared more than 110,000 mines and explosive remnants since early 2026, with operations targeting mines, IEDs, boobytrapped vehicles, drones, and unexploded ordnance.
