Denmark reopens Damascus embassy after 14 years, investing in Syria’s recovery

    1 September 2026.  Like other European nations that left Assad’s Syria, Denmark is returning and pledging $76 million for Syria’s recovery and for Syrian refugees returning from Denmark. “This step encourages other European countries to invest in Syria and follow the same path,” said Foreign Minister al-Shaibani.
